Gathering my Materials
Once I had sketched out the designs for my busy book next I needed to gather my materials. I went to a local fabric store and spent nearly two hours talking to the staff there and choosing my fabrics and getting it cut. I brought the busy book I had made for me when I was born to use as an example and the staff at the store just adored it. Having the example was super helpful to help measure things as well as have the staff help me break down how my auntie made it. The staff told me that my auntie had likely used interface which is fabric that goes in between the pages of the book to help give it some shape and structure. There was another material that the staff recommended similar to interface but it is stickier and more firm intended to be ironed onto the shapes I make and then stuck onto the background to keep the fabric from moving while I sew which I wouldn’t have known to use but I am glad they recommended it as it has helped me a lot.
